Yikes...
Yikes... You conclusion is part of what BURIES Maven.... The whole mvn whatever. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. What is the whatever??? With ant... a simple "ant -p" and I know EXACTLY what I can do. It's brilliant. I don't need to go Google around for what to do. It works the same on all projects. You simply grab the project from cvs or svn. You run an ant -p. You look at your options, and you're off and running.

Yup, you're right

You couldn't have made a better argument Erik, because it exposes how little people can know about Maven even after using it for months.

You don't run the equivalent of ant -p because if you are a maven user you already know all the commands, they are the same for every build ! If this confuses someone who has used maven for months, then it shows how crazy the world is.

All that -p stuff is required because every ant build can be so radically different. Chaos reigns supreme. No wonder ant users can't make the conversion, they can't understand maven's distaste for chaos.
