What If We All Believed Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast?
This is a conceptual what if, please dismiss this immediately as even being remotely possible.
But I did it myself for a month, and it was more fun than at least 1 1/2 barrels of monkeys.
Just sat down with a fresh page of paper in my little notebook and wrote out six impossible things, and tried to believe each of them at least for a nanosecond or two.
Wouldn't recommend doing this with any sense of perfection, because it is just too hard to really believe everything that the imagination can come up with. Get hungry and in a hurry enough, and the imagination comes up with pretty whacko stuff just so you can eat your dang breakfast. Then you take a minute to try and believe it and your eyes start rolling "yeah, I really believe this" (NOT).
But Heh, it is fun.
What if we all did this?
Well two things come to mind if we really ALL did this.
- We would obviously be living in something worse than a communist state, for anything that "we all" did would have to be forced from above. Very bad.
- Each of us would discover by some dint of coincidence that there was a ton of stuff that really wasn't nearly as impossible as we lead ourselves to believe. Hmm.
Stretching
Here is what happened to me. Lots of that "impossible" stuff wasn't nearly as impossible as I was leading myself to believe. Sure, there were some pretty dubious contingencies like "if this happened first then it could happen" but it wasn't impossible. Maybe unlikely.
It kind of pushed me in some directions I didn't anticipate. Not sure that this site isn't one of them.
Recommended. Not fo everyone of course. But for the person with a sense of adventure and abandon, not a bad place to go for a few minutes.
Well then, why not share?
It's a good question. Why not share some of the 31 days X 6 = 186 Impossible things that I came up with in my month of doing this?
Thought about it, but not very hard. If I did, then the whole idea would be put into question by virtue of the content of those impossible things.
Much better to leave it as a single issue of pleasure and growth, "If it feels good, do it" kind of thing. Believing impossible things is not supposed to make sense, that's the whole point.
